On October 8, 2018, Arthur J Levy, President and Founder of MouthPeace, Inc., attended a Conference
at the United Nations sponsored by Al-Khoei Foundation Shrines of Imam Hussein (A) & El-Abbas (A), ARSH (Alliance for Research and Scholastic Heritage), an educational organization operating in Universities inside and outside the United States. The Conference was entitled “Reclaiming the Intellectual Primacy & Promoting Just & Peaceful Societies.”
The stated purpose of the Conference was as follows:
“to bring together a cohort of thought leaders to begin to assess the opportunities and challenges for Muslims to regain their rightful position [of prominence and respect] in the World Community. It will begin a discourse on promoting ‘just, peaceful and inclusive societies’ in the Muslim world by way of preventing violence against minorities as well as women and children, and revitalize ‘global partnerships for development.’ This, in turn, will help the emergence of Islam and Muslims as net contributors to providing solutions to the world’s many challenges and renew the Muslim commitment to academic inquiry and intellectual insights.
“Muslims made meaningful contributions to the intellectual discourse and empowered world civilizations for centuries only to witness their own rapid fall from the grace. This precipitous decline of profile has not only created an unfavorable image of Muslims amongst non-Muslims but has also led to the disillusionment of the Muslim Masses who have arguably lost their own intellectual confidence. This has resulted in strife, injustice, weak institutions and a paucity of thought leadership.”
The Conference presented a comprehensive, multi-dimensional perspective of Islam focused on advancing peace, human rights, and mutual respect among population groups inside the United States and around the world. Speakers were divided into three sets of panels and consisted of religious scholars, professors from educational institutions, and human rights leaders representing organizations serving women, children, and the poor.
Participants were male and female and came from the United States, the Middle East, and Asia. Attendance consisted of more than 200 people of Muslim, Jewish, and Christian faiths from across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Discussions explored Sunni and Shia Islam, with emphasis on humanity and mutual respect for all individuals.
The overriding theme was the need to respect the humanity of all people.
MouthPeace, whose mission is to create and promote friendship between Arabs and Jews in Israel and adjacent territories, shares with the participants in this Conference a commitment to respect the humanity of all people. In attending this Conference, MouthPeace, through its President, gained a new educational perspective of Islam. The leadership of MouthPeace and Hebrew Learning Circles in Nyack, NY, and Jewish leaders in the New York metropolitan area, were invited to attend by Muhammad Hussein, an educator from Pakistan who is currently an adjunct professor in Islamic Studies at Drew University in New Jersey, and who was a key Conference organizer.

To mark the third anniversary of MouthPeace, our President and Founder, Arthur J. Levy, of New York City, visited Cincinnati.
While there, he and Susan Farber, a Director and Secretary & Treasurer, residing in Cincinnati, hosted a dinner reception for members of the Jewish community to introduce them to MouthPeace and the new approach based on reducing ethnic tensions between Arabs and Jews, which we want to implement in Israel and the adjacent territories.
Additionally, Art attended several Iftar dinners in the New York City area, commemorating the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. At each dinner, he introduced MouthPeace to persons in attendance and pointed out that our organization shares the humanistic values associated with Ramadan.
Through these conversations over food, we reiterate that MouthPeace honors equally the humanity of Muslims and Jews in American society and beyond.
